Volunteer Development Officer

Are you passionate about supporting Refugees and Asylum Seekers?

EQuIP, a leading equality charity based in Warwickshire, is looking for a dedicated Volunteer Development Officer to join our team. This is an exciting opportunity to lead the development and delivery of support for voluntary groups assisting Refugees and Asylum Seekers across Warwickshire.

Salary will be £27,803 per annum, working 37.5 hours per week. Fixed term contract for 24 months with the view to extending further. Office base is in Rugby, however the postholder will be required to work and travel to all parts of Warwickshire.

Role Overview: As a Volunteer Development Officer, you will play a pivotal role in fostering a culture of respect and understanding. Working closely with Warwickshire County Council’s Migration Team, you will coordinate voluntary and community sector activities and provide essential support to ensure the successful integration of Refugees and Asylum Seekers.

Key Responsibilities Include:

  • Engaging in educational initiatives and advocacy campaigns to raise awareness about equality issues
  • Coordinating voluntary and community sector activities across various schemes
  • Providing training and capacity-building support to volunteer groups
  • Promoting good practice in volunteering with Refugees and migrants
  • Recruiting and managing volunteers to fulfil essential roles
  • Encouraging Refugees, Asylum Seekers and migrants to access volunteering opportunities

Essential Criteria:

  • Relevant degree/equivalent qualification and/or experience
  • Enthusiasm and commitment to supporting Refugees and Asylum Seekers
  • Understanding of migration programmes and related issues
  • Experience in community development or capacity building
  • Excellent communication and organisational skills
  • Flexibility to adapt to changing demands and work outside of normal hours

The Equality and Inclusion Partnership (EQuIP) is a leading equality charity based in Warwickshire, committed to advancing equal opportunities, promoting diversity, and combating discrimination. We work collaboratively with communities, stakeholders, and partners to address the challenges faced by diverse and underrepresented groups.

Salary will be   £28,282 per annum, working 37.5 hours per week. Fixed term contract for 12  months with the possible view to extending further. Office base is in Rugby, however the postholder will be required to work and travel to all parts of Warwickshire.

Job Overview: We are seeking an Equalities Officer to join our team and play a pivotal role in developing and delivering efficient and effective equality services and initiatives. The successful candidate will be responsible for delivering core services and specific projects, optimising internal processes, engaging with diverse groups and understanding the range of needs across different communities, and contributing to our mission's overall success.

Key Responsibilities Include:

  1. Working as part of a team to deliver high-quality services, projects, and information to local communities
  2. Developing effective links with local communities, public agencies, and key stakeholders
  3. Identifying key equality issues and addressing them in collaboration with key agencies
  4. Acting as a link between communities, EQuIP, and public agencies
  5. Developing effective channels of communication between communities and relevant bodies

Essential Criteria:

  • Relevant degree/equivalent qualification and/or experience
  • Demonstrable experience in community development, equality, or related fields
  • Knowledge of equality legislation, policies, and best practices
  • Commitment to promoting equality, diversity, and inclusion
  • Proven ability in networking and relationship building
  • Excellent communication and ICT skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Flexibility to adapt to changing workload demands
  • Commitment to actively promoting Safeguarding policies
  • Ability to travel effectively within Warwickshire
  • Ability to work outside of normal working hours
